New non-executive Director appointments
Three new non-executives join the board of Standard Life Assurance Limited
We are pleased to announce that Amanda Bowe, Richard Houghton and David Marock have joined the board of Standard Life Assurance Limited (the regulated entity through which we provide our long term savings and investment products) as non-executive Directors. We believe these new appointments will bring additional scrutiny and external insight to the business.
About the new board members
Amanda Bowe has over 20 years’ risk management experience, and has held senior positions at the UK’s Financial Services Authority and Aegon UK. Since leaving Aegon, she has taken on a number of non-executive directorships with Equatex, Post Office Management Services (where she is also chair of the Audit and Risk Committee) and Pensions Insurance Corporation. Amanda is also chair of the company’s Risk and Capital Committee.
Richard Houghton is a finance director with over 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector, particularly general insurance. He was Group Chief Financial Officer of RSA Insurance, and has held senior positions with RBS Insurance (including as Chief Operating Officer and Group Finance Director). He is currently interim CFO with Co-op Insurance. Richard is also chair of the company’s Audit Committee.
David Marock is an actuary with over 20 years’ experience in the financial services sector, specifically general and life insurance. He was Group Chief Operating Officer with Beazley Group and is now Group Chief Executive Officer of Charles Taylor plc. David’s board experience includes several executive and non-executive roles associated with his employment at Charles Taylor.
