27 November 2008 - Financial Adviser Service Awards - Standard Life proves that 13 is lucky for some

Standard Life has just been awarded the Financial Adviser Five Star Service Award for Life & Pensions – for the 13th consecutive year.

We also retained our Four Star Service Award for Mortgages.

Commenting on the win, John Gill, Managing Director Customer Service and Finance, said, “In the award supplement that Financial Adviser put together, I commented on the importance of our people.  A huge part of providing superior customer service is the attitude your people have; the fact they take ownership for issues, that they will commit to delivery for IFAs, and that they take pride in making that happen.  Thank you all for playing your part in achieving this.”

13 November 2008 - A night of wins for Standard Life at the Scottish Financial Enterprise Awards

Standard Life won not one, but two awards at the Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) Innovator Awards on 13 November 2008.  The awards highlight the best new developments in financial services and are open to any Scottish-based financial services company or team.

We received the 'Innovative use of technology' award for our 'Document Recognition' and were recognised with a 'Special award for investment in the future' for our Step Up in Life' programme.  We were also shortlisted for our United Kingdom Retirement Manager online tool in the same 'Innovative use of technology' category.

The document services team's use of advanced image recognition software technology was what clinched the 'Innovative use of technology' award. Quicker, more accurate and a great improvement to customer service, as well as costs were just some of the reasons for the win.

For our second win of the night, the judges created a special award this year for investment in the future.  "An innovation that reaches outside a company itself, focusing on helping prepare and encourage people, particularly young people, for work" was how our 'Step Up In Life' programme was described, which helps students make the transition from school to work.A free resource to schools, the programme delivers workshops in job applications, interviews and success at work to young people, disadvantaged groups and the unemployed.  Presenting the award, John Campbell OBE, Chairman, Scottish Financial Enterprise commented that it was a "Fantastic example of a company giving back to society".
